BACKPACKS FOR THE HOMELESS
Backpacks for the Homeless
Every Sunday morning, anywhere from 250-350 homeless men and women, gather for a meal at the Friendship Breakfast. Volunteers from all over the state help to procure, prepare, and serve all week long, demonstrating a true “it takes a village” sense of community. The giving season is always at its peak during the months of November and December, however, February and March can often be difficult for many to get through. Last year we personally delivered 100 backpacks to many of these folks...only to realize that we were about 100 backpacks short. This year, we have an opportunity to have an impact on a entire population of homeless men, women, and children. Thank you for getting involved to make a difference in our local community. Any time we get to give, it’s an opportunity to demonstrate good citizenship in a practical way to those who are in need. The following items will be placed in a backpack that will be given to the homeless people from Mathewson St. Church in Providence.
Thanks again for your help.
(See the sign-up sheet on the back for the specific items your child signed up to donate. If you are not able to purchase these items, please let your child’s teacher know.)

We need your help with the Tough Tiger- Can you help?
The Tough Tiger committee could use help with sponsorship. We have thirty letters that need to go out to sponsors and an additional twenty that need to be called who are showing interest in corporate sponsorship. With that being said, it would be beneficial to have someone volunteer as a a team leader for sponsorship. The job will entail:
Mailing sponsor forms
Keeping a running list of all sponsor forms going out
Calling to follow up on sponsor forms
Receiving checks to be sent to the PTO for processing
Bookkeeping of checks coming in to be shared with the team weekly
Collecting company logos for sponsor levels silver and above to send to the T-shirt team for processing by March 31st.
Justine Currie will be the support person for the sponsorship team leader. Know that you are not in this alone.
