Morning Drop off:

Just a friendly reminder, as the nicer weather approaches we ask that when you drop off students in the morning you pull all the way forward to allow as many cars to drop off at one time.  It is helpful for students to have their masks on so they are ready to exit the car to expedite the process.  Please note, the school day begins at 8:40, the front and back doors close at this time.  Any student arriving after 8:40 will need to enter through the main entrance.  Thank you for your help with this.

BMS Spirit Week:

Next Week, 3/29-4/1 we will be having a BMS Spirit Week.  Please see the link below for the theme for each day.  We encourage all students and staff to participate.  Students that participate and submit a picture will be entered into a raffle drawing for a gift card.

We greatly value your feedback as this helps us to identify steps for continuous improvement. If you have questions please email Rebecca Silveira: silveirar@barringtonschools.org

BMS Spotlight on Learning:

This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs.Orrall. Mrs.Orall is such a hard working teacher and she never fails to make her students happy. She is really funny, smart, and kind and I think she deserves this award because she is one of the best teachers I've ever had. (Submitted by Student Anna Simmons)

This week we would also like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Kelly Nelson. Last weekly, Mrs. Nelson took the time to print certificates for all BMS Spotlight recipients since the start of the school year. Thank you Kelly for making our Spotlights feel extra special.

Do you know of a BMS Faculty/Staff member that is shining bright! If you do, please complete the form below and we can include the nomination in an upcoming newsletter.

The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is a youth program that helps middle/high school students gain a competitive edge to stand out and excel beyond their peers when applying to college, military academies, scholarships, and job opportunities. Raise Your Hand! A new community facilitated by The Barrington Prevention Coalition

The purpose of this new community is to seek answers and support for questions that are on your mind as our Barrington children navigate school during these uncertain times.  Our team of informed community members will do its best to answer your anonymous questions or find resources to help.  Let’s start a dialog!  Click here for the informational flyer and click here for the link to the community.

Student Daily Attestation Weekly Reminder:

This is just a weekly reminder that you must screen your child for temperature, other symptoms, and risk factors for COVID-19 each day before sending them to the bus or building.

  • If the student has any signs of illness or risk factors, they will remain at home, and the parent/guardian will contact the school nurse.

  • Barrington Public Schools requires you to use the Student attestation form daily to screen your child.

  • Please see this link for additional information. Student Attestation

Change from Distance Learning to In-Person Learning:

We ask that if you decide to switch learning models, that you continue to email me but I also request that you complete linked form: Student Learning Model Change Request

In-Person Participating in Distance Learning:

An in-person student should only be participating in distance learning under three conditions.

  • The first condition is your child is sick and not able to come to school in-person but is still able to participate in class.

  • The second condition is if your child is quarantined due to a household member having Covid-19 symptoms or has tested positive for Covid-19.

  • The third condition is if your child is required to quarantine per RIDOH guidelines.

Distance learning should not be used as a tool for your child not to come to school for reasons other than listed above.  If your child fits one of the three conditions above, please call the school to notify them of the circumstance, and it is also recommended to email the teachers before the start of the school day so they can make sure they are prepared for an additional distance learning student. If your child does not fit into one of the three conditions above, the teachers will not let them into their Zoom class.
